Twice the build time and a standing monthly meeting, for the point where staff have stopped using the old spreadsheet and the app is the system of record.
For software that has become how the work gets done.

Enough hours to keep a real roadmap moving, on infrastructure that is only yours, with one engineer who knows your operation without being briefed.
For multi-site operations and anything carrying a compliance obligation.

Half of the studio, pointed at you. A written service level, an on-call rotation, and the documentation an auditor or an insurer is going to ask for.

Fixed scope, defined end, $150 an hour with a twenty hour floor. Neither of these obligates you to a plan, and plenty of them end with us telling you to buy something off the shelf.
For when a board, a grant committee, or a lender needs a number before anyone votes. Twenty hours to scope one process, up to a hundred for a specification you could put out for bid. Every deliverable is a document you own and can hand to any developer alive.

Thirty days notice on any plan. The repository was already yours, so leaving is a conversation about handover rather than a negotiation about ownership.
